August 1, 2013

Delaware State Police are searching for two women they say approached another woman walking along Route 1 and tried to take her purse.

The woman, 21, was walking northbound on the southbound shoulder at 10:30 a.m. July 31 near M&T Bank when two other women approached her and tried to start a conversation, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

When the woman refused to talk to them, Fournier said, they grabbed her purse and tried to pull it from her. The three fell to the ground and the woman was able to hold on to her purse; the other two ran empty-handed toward Camelot Estates Mobile Home Park, Fournier said.

The woman was not injured.

The two women are described as white, 17-25 years old, 5-feet-5-inches tall and weighing 105 pounds.

One has brown hair that she wore in a bun, and she was wearing a gray-striped shirt with black pants. The other young woman had blond hair; there was no further description. No weapon displayed during the incident, Fournier said.
