Joseph A. Humphries Jr., of Georgetown, 64, passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Joseph was born in Washington, D.C., son of the late Joseph A. Sr. and Kathleen (McGinnis) Humphries.
He worked in sales with IBM for 30 years, retiring in 1998. Joseph graduated from St. Anthony’s High School and served in the Marine Air Reserves during the Vietnam War. He was a fan of the Washington Redskins and Nationals and enjoyed fishing, birds, gardening and hiking.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lynn Marie (Butler) Humphries; two children, Debbie Price and husband Milt and Joseph Humphries, III and wife Allison; five grandchildren, Joseph Humphries IV, Matthew Price, Christina Price, Violet Humphries and Atticus Humphries; siblings, Jim Humphries (Candy), Mary Landolt (Tom), Ed Humphries (Irene), JoAnn Davidson (Frank) and John Humphries; mother-in-law, Audrey Butler and the late Edward Butler; brothers and sisters-in-law: Joan Boswell and the late Tom Boswell, Ed Butler (Donna) and Caryl Gross. He is also survived by his two canine friends, Duchess and Maggie.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, with visitation after 1 p.m.
