Cancer Support Community's Wings of Hope campaign gets underway Aug. 14

Butterfly release set for Sept. 14

Wings of Hope is a community-wide celebration of life in support of Sussex County neighbors who have been touched by cancer. This very special event embodies the Cancer Support Community Delaware’s mission of hope and support.

The monthlong Wings of Hope Campaign of Support begins Wednesday, Aug. 14. Everyone is encouraged to purchase $10 seeded butterfly cutouts to honor those who have been touched by cancer. The butterfly cutouts will be displayed at the Wings of Hope butterfly release.

Butterfly cutouts will be for sale at locations around the region including Inner Reflections Day Spa; Tomato Sunshine; Soul Yoga; Surf Bagel; CAMP Rehoboth; All Saints’ Church; All About U Salon; the office of Christine Hannaway, MD; the Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market; Rehoboth Beach Public Library and many others. They are also available for purchase at http://www.wellnessdelaware.org/upcomingevents.php. Everyone can get into the butterfly spirit by purchasing $1 paper butterflies at Brafman Family Dentistry and all Grotto Pizza and Hocker’s and Super G food stores in Sussex County.

The Third Annual Wings of Hope ... A Butterfly Release to benefit the Cancer Support Community Delaware is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14 (rain date Sept. 15). The event will be held at the Medical Arts Building, 18947 John J. Williams Highway in Rehoboth Beach. Admission is free and all ages are welcome. The event includes activities, entertainment, vendors and refreshments. Seeded butterfly cutouts at $10 will be available for purchase as well as the opportunity to release a live butterfly for $30 in advance, $40 at the event; quantities are very limited. The event culminates in a butterfly garden created by Sposato Landscape with the release of 250 live monarch butterflies.

The mission at the Cancer Support Community Delaware is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community. All of programs are offered free of charge. In addition, all funds raised in Sussex County stay in Sussex County to help neighbors.
