Shirley L. Bush, homemaker

Shirley L. Bush died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at her home in Dover. Shirley was born Oct. 12, 1926, in Bridgeville to William L. Lord Sr., and Madeline Fry Lord.

She was a 1944 graduate of Bridgeville High School and a 1948 graduate of the University of Delaware, majoring in economics. Shirley met the love of her life, the Hon. William G. Bush III, while attending the University of Delaware. They married in 1949. She spent most of her life as a homemaker. Shirley loved to travel, play bridge, read, and spend time with her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her son William G. Bush IV and his wife Carrie B. Bush of Wyoming; grandchildren, William G. Bush V, Mason J. Bush and Jonathan X. Bush, of Wyoming; brother, William L. Lord Jr. and his wife Sandra S. Lord of Rehoboth Beach; sister, Elizabeth Wilkie of Dover; nephews William L. Lord III of South Carolina, John B. Lord of Dover, and Gregory R. Wilkie of Newark; nieces, Megan Madigan of Virginia, Wendy A. Petrosky of Wyoming, and Vickie Duke of Felton.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be in Lakeside cemetery, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Seasons Hospice, 300 Biddle Avenue Suite 205, Newark, DE 19702 or Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forrest Ave., Dover, DE 19904.
