Free to Breathe 5K at Cape all about family support

The Free To Breathe 5K starting at Cape Henlopen High School Aug. 11 attracted 182 runners and 16 walkers, many there to remember family members who have been lost to lung-related illnesses.

Ty Franks, 16, was the overall winner of the race in a time of 17:01 followed by Austin MacElrevey ,17, in 18:33 and Owen Walker, 13, in 18:33.

Chris Stanley, a masters runner of 44, broke up the teen domination, clocking a 19:32.

Elizabeth Martin, 29, from Austin, Texas, was the first woman in 20:25, followed by Melanie Rivers in 21:39.

Mardiny Ung, 46, won the women’s masters in 22.25.
