JoAnne Stella Kilsheimer, loving grandmother

JoAnne Stella Kilsheimer, 70, of Silver Spring, Md., passed away suddenly Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013.

She was the loving mother of Timarie K. Thompson (Blair) and Lisa K. Stevenson (Conrad); sister of Jack Cunningham; grandmother to Chase Thompson and David, James and Miles Stevenson. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Victor.

JoAnne was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John F. Cunningham of Auburn, Mass. A graduate of Auburn High School and St. Vincent Hospital School for Surgical Technicians, JoAnne also attended Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing, both in Worcester, Mass.

Over the years, JoAnne was very involved with many community organizations. For the past 22 years she was a committed volunteer at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Norwood Parrish Opportunity Shop in Bethesda, Md. JoAnne enjoyed antiquing, collectables, spending time with her many friends and playing with her faithful feline companion Victor. Nothing gave her more joy than spending time with her grandsons. JoAnne had been a summer resident of Dewey Beach since 1971 and enjoyed her time at the ocean.

JoAnne’s warmth, wonderful sense of humor and compassion will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Friends may call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 E. Deer Park Dr., Gaithersburg, Md., Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m., at the same location. Following the service, guests may attend the interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 1 p.m. (Please assemble at the cemetery office by 12:45 p.m.)
