Debby S. West, retired school teacher

Debby S. West, 70, of Frankford, formerly of Alexandria, Va., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover.

Debby was born in Casa Grande, Ariz., Feb. 3, 1943, daughter of the late Francis P. and Frances (Taylor) Sult. Mrs. West retired as a music and choral teacher with the Fairfax County Public School System, retiring in 2003 with 27 years of service.

She was a member of the Virginia Music Educators Association, the Shore Democrats and NARFE, where she served as the editor of the newsletter. Debby, along with her husband Eric, were former presenters for the Retrouvaille Program, which offers the tools needed to rediscover a loving marriage relationship. She was also a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Arlington, Va. and St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bethany Beach.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Preston Sult. Debby is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Dr. Eric E. West; two sons, Evan (Kathy) West of Cumberland, Md. and Preston (Amy) West of Seattle, Wash.; three grandchildren, Ethan, Brendan and Mina West; her beloved dog Theodore Roosevelt; and seven siblings, Ann Hannapel, Mary Charles Koestner, Margaret Sult, Hon. James Sult, Emily Swartz, Katherine Sult and Cecelia Kafer.

A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends and family may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be held privately at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro.
