Nelda Adkins McLaughlin, 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Bayard Monday, Aug. 19, 2013.
Born April 19, 1936, in Bayard to Joseph K. and Armenia Adkins, she lived her entire life in Delaware. She graduated from Lord Baltimore High School in 1954 and later graduated from Goldey Beacom College. She retired from Crowley Associates Realty in 2000. She was a beautiful and caring person who enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time at the beach.
Nelda will be remembered most of all as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her happiest times were those spent in the company of beloved family.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Mark H. McLaughlin; daughters Jennifer Troublefield and her husband Thomas, Celeste Cathell and her husband Darin of Frankford; brother Norris J. Adkins and his wife Kittie of Bayard. She is also survived by four grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Jake and Paige Troublefield and Jax and Kendall Cathell.
Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission Catholic Church, Route 17, Roxana, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Vines Creek Road in Dagsboro.
