State legislators organize auction to benefit Saez children

$7,700 will support education expenses
August 26, 2013

State Rep. Dave Wilson, R-Bridgeville, and Rep. Steve Smyk, R-Milton, said they were overwhelmed by the community support for a fundraiser benefiting three Milton children recently struck by tragedy.

The two legislators staged a charitable auction July 28 at Wilson's Auction Sales to help the children left behind by Eduardo and Priscilla Saez, who were killed in a June traffic accident.

“We set up the framework, but this fundraiser would not have been a success without the generosity of the many state residents who embraced it,” Wilson said.

At an Aug. 19 ceremonial presentation in Georgetown, Wilson and Smyk gave the administrators of the Saez Family Benefit Fund a check for $7,700.

“We delayed the presentation to capture donations that were continuing to come in over the last couple of weeks,” Smyk said. “The total surpasses our expectations and just proves how well this community responds to people in need.”

The money is being managed to help with the college expenses of the Saez children.
