Midway Lions set to reconvene for 2013-14 year

August 29, 2013

Although the Midway Lions Club has been on recess for the months of July and August, members continued fundraising efforts to assist those less fortunate in the community.

In the past, Midway Lions have provided eyeglasses, hearing aids and other medical supplies. They have supported many local nonprofit organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club, Meals on Wheels, Korean Wounded Warriors Foundation, the Consortium schools and many others. This year emergency funds were given to the victims of Sandy and the Oklahoma tornadoes.

Those who are interested in being part of the Midway Lions and helping in their altruistic endeavors may take a brochure from the raffle ticket sellers who set up in front of Superfresh on Coastal Highway in Lewes, call Membership Chair Mary Jo DeVries at 302-645-2585 or email rehomary64@comcast.net.

The Midway Lions Club meets at noon on the first and third Monday of the month September through June at Irish Eyes in Lewes.  The lunch and business meeting often features a speaker from one of the charities the club supports. In addition, they have knowledgeable speakers on subjects such as diabetes, making a will and the history of eastern Sussex, to name a few.
