John L. Peterson, DP&L retiree
John L. Peterson, 77, of Southern Chester County and Millsboro, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at home surrounded by his family. Born to the late Beryl and Henry Peterson, of Wilmington, John attended Conrad High School and graduated from the University of Delaware.
He retired from Delmarva Power and Light Company after almost 40 years of service, and later consulted with MPR and Associates in Alexandria, Va.
John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eleanor S. Peterson; two children, David Peterson of Landenberg, Pa., and Eric Peterson and his wife Rebecca of Stafford, Va.; grandchildren Delaney and Olivia; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.
A visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike (Rt. 202, S. of Silverside Road), Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in John's name to the Delaware Humane Association, 701 A St., Wilmington, DE 19801, or the American Cancer Society 92 Read's Way, Suite 205, New Castle, Del. 19720.
