Milton continues budget discussion

Milton Town Council will meet at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Milton Public Library to continue its discussion of the 2014 fiscal year budget. Milton’s budget year runs from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30. For more information, call town hall at 302-684-4110.

No election in Dewey Beach this year

The Dewey Beach municipal election, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21, was cancelled when only three people filed for the three open seats on town council.

Mayor Diane Hanson and Commissioner Anna Legates will retain their spots; Commis­sioner Joy Howell did not file for re-election. Thirty-year property owner Ellen Danaher, who filed Aug. 19, will replace Howell on town council. No date has yet been set for Danaher to take her seat on council.

Cape district seeks variance at Milton BoA

Cape Henlopen School District will go before Milton’s Board of Adjustment Committee at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, to ask for a variance to the zoning code. The district is planning to build an accessory building located at 512 Federal St. A public hearing will be held prior to the committee’s vote. The meeting will be held at the Milton Public Library. State parks changes lifeguard hours

Changes in the hours and loca­tions where swimming beaches in Delaware State Parks are guarded have been announced by the Division of Parks and Recreation.

Through Fri­day, Aug. 30, Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware Seashore State Park’s Indian River South Inlet Day Area and Fenwick Is­land State Park will be guarded 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also, guarded swimming areas will be reduced and limited in size. Delaware Seashore State Park’s Tower Road swimming beach will be unguarded through Aug. 30, but will be guarded Saturday, Aug. 31, through Monday, Sept. 2. Over the Labor Day holiday week­end, lifeguard hours will resume their regular schedule, from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. from Aug. 31 through Sept. 2.
