Ellendale man linked to Georgetown robbery after Lewes traffic stop

An Ellendale man faces burglary, gun and drug charges following a traffic stop Aug. 26 in a Lewes parking lot.

Delaware State Police were investigating the burglary of a home in the 20000 block of Gravel Hill Road and determined Tyrone J. Morris, 40, was a suspect, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

Later that day, police found Morris in the parking lot of Comcast Cable in Lewes. Morris, who is prohibited from possessing a weapon, had two small-caliber handguns on him in addition to .04 grams of heroin, Fournier said.

Inside his car, police found drug paraphernalia, jewelry, electronics and a shotgun that was stolen from the home on Gravel Hill Road, Fournier said.

Morris was charged with three counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, two counts of second-degree burglary, theft of a firearm, possession of heroin and other charges.

He was committed to Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $65,400 cash bond.
