Collision totals John Brady's car

August 30, 2013

Sussex County Clerk of Peace John Brady missed a few weddings last week.

On his way to officiate a ceremony, Aug. 24, his white Chevy Tahoe was hit by a Jeep at the intersection of Hollymount Road and Beaver Dam Road near Angola.  “The guy ran a stop sign at 30 miles per hour,” Brady said.

Brady’s car was hit on the passenger side.  He said he looked over at the Jeep just in time to see panic on the faces of the driver and passenger before the Jeep’s front airbags deployed.

“It pushed me into a tree, but thankfully it was a small tree,” he said.  Brady was taken to Beebe Medical Center via ambulance, but was released the same day with only bumps and bruises, he said.

The driver and passenger in the Jeep were also taken to Beebe Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Brady said he is thankful he wasn’t driving his county-issued car because it is smaller, and he may have suffered more than bumps and bruises.

“My beautiful Tahoe is now dead,” Brady said.

Luckily, he has an identical white Tahoe, which he calls his back up.  The only difference is the backup is a two-wheel drive, not a four-wheel, like the one involved in the crash.  And the license plate reads, “Big guy.”
