Travel Back in Time to Aviation Museum's AirFest - Ferry Partners with NASW on AirFest Package

(North Cape May, NJ) The Cape May – Lewes Ferry has teamed up with the Naval Air Station Wildwood (NASW) Aviation Museum to offer a package for Delaware residents and visitors to attend this year’s 17th Annual AirFest at the Cape May, NJ Airport. AirFest, which will take place from Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2, will feature the Collings Foundation’s National 2013 Wings of Freedom Tour.  In addition to vintage WWII aircraft, AirFest will feature great music, food, vendors, exhibits and much more.

The event, which runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the Labor Day weekend, will feature the P-51 Mustang, B-17 Flying Fortress and B-24 Liberator.  “The public will be given a once in a lifetime opportunity to view, explore and even take a flight in these historic treasures,” said Dr. Joseph Salvatore, Director of the NASW Museum.  “We’re excited to partner with the Ferry to promote AirFest and its historical value on the other side of the Delaware Bay.”  The Collings Foundation’s vintage aircraft are schedule to arrive at the Airport at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013.

“The Aviation Museum is a unique attraction where people can feel and experience authentic American history,” said Nikky Fisher, Lewes terminal manager for the Cape May – Lewes Ferry.  “It’s a living history adventure only a few short miles from the Cape May ferry terminal.  Ferry partnerships like the AirFest package let people experience all that the Twin Capes have to offer!”

A special value package, which includes round trip passage on the Ferry and admission to AirFest, is more than 40% off published rates.  The package prices are $52.50 for the vehicle and driver; $16.50 for passengers 13 years of age or older; $12.50 for children ages 3-12 and children under 3 are free.  Simply mention AirFest when booking to get the round trip discounted package rates for the vehicle and passengers.

The famous WWII aircraft will be visiting the Cape May Airport and historic Hangar #1 for four days. Separate fees required for fighter and bomber flight experiences. For flight reservations and tour information call 800-568-8924.

The Aviation Museum boasts over 26 aircraft displays as well as exhibits of military memorabilia, engines, photographs, interactive exhibits that allow visitors to discover the science of flight and more. The Aviation Museum is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm rain or shine. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

About the NASW Aviation Museum

Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum is located in Historic Hangar #1 at the Cape May Airport, New Jersey. Cape May Airport was formerly Naval Air Station Wildwood, which served as a World War II dive-bomber training center.  The museum is dedicated to the 42 airmen who perished while training at Naval Air Station Wildwood between 1943 and 1945.
