Sussex needs a certified planner

September 13, 2013

The headline says "Sussex planners have full agenda Sept 12." This is a misleading statement. It refers to the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commissioners who are appointed by Sussex County Council.

These commissioners are not certified planners; neither are the director or other employees of the Department of Planning and Zoning. Sussex County does not have a professional, certified planner and with it's rampant growth the county certainly needs one.

In the future, I hope the Cape Gazette, which has editorially supported the need for a certified planner, will be more clear when describing planning issues and who is or is not doing the "planning."

Sussex County needs a certified professional planner!
