Around the World series to show 'The Dynamiter' Oct. 2

September 14, 2013

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society, Lewes Public Library and the Movies at Midway present “The Dynamiter” as October’s film for the Around the World series of critically acclaimed, international independent films. The Indie Spirit Award nominee and award-winning drama will screen at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the upstairs screening room at the Movies at Midway.

It’s another summer in Glen Allan, Miss., for 14-year-old Robbie Hendrick. His wayward mother has run off again fearing a mental breakdown, and he’s left with the responsibility of caring for his younger half-brother Fess. As the days pass without their mother’s return, older brother Lucas has come home and dangerously entered their lives again. Soon Robbie discovers Lucas isn’t the older brother he always imagined. The threat of social services begins to close in on the brothers as clues about their absent mother leak out. Robbie’s dream of a family begins to dim slowly. He must soon face the fact that he may lose the only family he’s ever known, Fess. He rages against that reality in a fierce and loyal way that epitomizes the extraordinarily beautiful spirit of "The Dynamiter." Film Movement's Rebeca Conget says the film, "Grabs you and doesn’t let go, and you don’t even realize it until hours and days after you finish watching it.”
