Dimitra Yoga, Soul Yoga donate to Lewes Canalfront Park

September 16, 2013

The Friends of the Lewes Canalfront Park received a generous donation of $500 from Dimitra Kotanides of Dimitra Yoga and Soul Yoga Studio. The presentation took place Sept. 1 at the final free yoga session of the 2013 season at the park in the heart of Lewes, overlooking the scenic Lewes-Rehoboth Canal. Kotanides and her team distributed offerings received at the weekly sessions. Accepting  on behalf of the Friends, board member Mariah Calagione said, “This wonderful contribution back to the park allows us to sponsor great events in 2014 and make capital improvements to the park for everyone to enjoy.” In addition to the donation to the Friends, other local beneficiaries are the SPCA, Meals on Wheels, Clothing our Kids and the Rehoboth Beach Marathon, which in turn serves as a fundraiser for other local charities.

Kotanides said, “The Sunday mornings at the park have been a highlight of my summer, and I'm so pleased that in our third year we continue to have an increase in yogis who attend. We hope everyone marks their 2014 calendars, when Yoga in the Park will begin on Mother's Day, May 11, and run throughout the summer." Yoga in the Park is popular and spirit-affirming, attracting residents from throughout Sussex County as well as many visitors to the Cape region.

The Friends organization welcomes new members and volunteers. For more information go to www.lewescanalfrontpark.org, like the park on Facebook, or call the new information hotline at 302-645-2795.
