Wilbert Tabor, Gulf Oil retiree

Wilbert “Bud” Tabor, 84, of Long Neck, formerly of Parkside, Pa., died suddenly Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.

He was born in Pulaski, Va., Feb. 25, 1929. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bud retired from the Gulf Oil Company in Philadelphia, Pa.. He was a shift supervisor during the 1975 Gulf Oil fire that took the lives of eight Philadelphia firefighters. Bud proudly served as a Republican councilman for many years for the Borough of Parkside, Pa.

Bud was an active member of the American Legion Post 28 of Oak Orchard/Millsboro and the AMVETS Post in Millsboro. He was also a member of the West End Boat Club in Chester, Pa.

Bud was preceded in death by his son Clifton Minshall and his mother, Agnes Pike. He is survived by his wife Eleanor; his children, David Tabor, Robin Tabor, Duane Minshall and Leanne Navin; grandchildren, Heather, David, Leslie, Graham, Michael, B.J., Eric, Kali, Zachary and Bryn; and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Bud’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 13, at American Legion Post 28, 31768 Legion Road, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to American Legion Post 28, 31768 Legion Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
