The Sussex County Habitat for Humanity ReStore Donation Truck Comes to Beebe Medical Center on September 23

For those who would like to join Beebe Medical Center in supporting Sussex County Habitat for Humanity, a Habitat ReStore donation truck will be parked in Lewes on the hospital grounds from 8 a.m. 4 p.m. on September 23 to accept donations.

The ReStore shop, located on 107 Depot Street in Georgetown, provides good-quality construction materials and home goods to Habitat build sites and the community. The types of items that the organization would like to receive include:

Appliances -

• Guaranteed working appliances that are 10 years old or younger
  • Note: All stoves, wall ovens, and refrigerators must have their final cleaning
• Guaranteed working HVAC units, compressors, dishwashers, hot water heaters, coffee makers and blenders that are 5 years old or younger
  • Note: Hot water tanks must be completely drained for pick-up service

Cabinets –

• All cabinets that are in very good condition with hardware and their doors

Doors and Windows –

• All interior and exterior door slabs or pre-hung that are in excellent condition
• Double hung and casement windows
  • Note: Wood frame windows must be in excellent condition to be accepted
• It does NOT Accept: Any Window Sashes

Flooring –

• All left over new flooring that is boxed and in perfect condition
• Used flooring that has not been damaged
• Rolls of linoleum
• Gently used carpet and area rugs
  • Note: Must be stain free, rolled, and sized.

Furniture –

• Gently used upholstered furniture
  • Note: No tears, stains, or animal hair
• Wood furniture
• Metal bed frames
• 2 piece china cabinets
• Broken furniture is NOT accepted.

The truck will be parked at Beebe Medical Center behind the multi-story parking lot and adjacent to Block House Pond.

Beebe Medical Center is supporting Sussex County Habitat for Humanity as part of Beebe’s participation in the Healthier Sussex County Initiative to improve the health of all people living and working in Sussex County.  Seeking to put God’s love into action, Sussex County Habitat for Humanity, brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. 

Tom Protack, Community Engagement Director for Habitat, explained, “For people who want to support Habitat but cannot physically come out to build on a Habitat job site, there is always the option of donating, volunteering or shopping at our ReStore which directly helps our mission.  All the monies raised through donated items at our ReStore go directly to building homes.  Last year, from the proceeds of the ReStore we build one home in Georgetown and two homes in Guatemala.”

Beebe Medical Center would also like to remind the public that the Beebe Treasure Chest Thrift Store, located in the Midway Shopping Center, accepts donations of clothing, and small items including kitchen utensils, small appliances, dinnerware, art, books, decorator items and furniture.

The shop is open Mondays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday through Saturday form 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
