Jeffrey Allan White, automotive businessman

September 11, 2013

The life of Jeffrey Allan White, 52, was tragically ended in a traffic accident Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013.

He was the beloved youngest son of the late Murray W. and Thelma Jane (Messick) White of Georgetown. A life-long resident of Georgetown, Jeff graduated from Sussex Central in 1979.

Maintaining a tradition begun by his father in 1958, he was in the automobile business for more than 32 years, most recently operating Jeff White’s AutoWorks and BodyWorks. He was very active in his community and will be missed by many.

Jeff served on the board of the Georgetown Boys and Girls Club, was an active member of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and supported the mission of Delaware Hospice and recently joined the Georgetown Historical Society.

Jeff’s passions included expressing himself creatively through music, inventing gadgets, award winning Halloween costumes and designing food trucks. Jeff was a genuine, caring friend who was always there to help and support those in need. Jeff loved spending time with family and friends. He has touched so many lives and his passing leaves a big void for many people in his life who meant the world to him.

He is survived by two brothers, Stephen and his wife Linda of Middletown, and Philip and his wife Karen, of Federalsburg, Md. He leaves behind two stepchildren and four nieces and nephews; and a large “family”, including many relatives and a multitude of friends to cherish his memory.

He also leaves behind the love of his life, Lillian Blanchard. Their life together began with a first date on Valentine’s Day, 2011. They enjoyed a spectacular romance that ended way too soon.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where visitation will be Friday evening, Sept. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Saturday after 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Union Cemetery in Georgetown following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to the Georgetown Boys and Girls Club, 115 N. Race St., Georgetown, DE 19947, or Delaware Hospice at www.delawarehospice.org.
