Legion Auxiliary Unit 28 announces essay winners

October 2, 2013

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 28 Americanism Chair Beth McGinn presented winning writers certificates and checks for $25 each. The essays were submitted as part of the American Legion Auxiliary's National Essay Contest.

This year’s theme was What Freedom Do I Enjoy the Most as an American? Each essay was judged at the unit level and then forwarded to Department of Delaware where winners were announced at the state convention. Essay entrants come from several grade levels, and all students are invited to participate.

The theme for next year will be How Can I Show My Pride in Being an American? For more information and deadlines, contact Beth at 302-947-2984.

Shown (l-r) are Terry Kansak, teacher at Long Neck Elementary School; students David Bohenick and Joshua Johnson, and Beth McGinn.
