W. Connie Gooden, Movies at Midway retiree

September 20, 2013

W. Connie Gooden, 72, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at her residence. She was born in Horry, S.C., March 22, 1941, daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Ward) Coleman.

Ms. Gooden was a very social, outgoing woman who never met a stranger and always had a smile for everyone she met. She enjoyed playing slot machines, but her greatest enjoyment was the time spent with her "girlfriends" at the Old Mill Crab House. She knew everyone in Sussex and Kent counties where she watched all the kids grow up. She had a green thumb which was evident in the many plants and seasonal flowers that adorned her home.

Ms. Gooden worked at Storer Cable and WSFS Bank for several years and later at the Movies at Midway for 40 years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Gooden is survived by her loving companion of over 30 years, Joseph J. Stocker; and sister Dottie Sonnenburg of Colorado Springs, Colo.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of Parsell Funeral Homes, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, to assist in defraying funeral expenses.
