(Lewes, DE) Bocce rolls into the Lewes terminal on Saturday, September 28 when the Cape May-Lewes Ferry hosts its first ever Bocce Fest!  Sponsored by Major League Bocce and Dogfish Head Brewery, this double elimination bocce tournament will take place on the green of the Lewes Ferry Terminal beginning at 11 AM.    The tournament features all-day bocce, live music, food, beer and much more!   Admission is free for spectators and the public is encouraged to attend.

“We are ecstatic to be hosting our very first regional bocce tournament,” said Rachel Preston, partner in Major League Bocce, LLC.  “The waterfront location at the Cape-May Lewes Ferry terminal makes this tournament unique and offers visiting participants the added benefit of a Delaware beach weekend.”

“We are thrilled that the Lewes terminal of the Cape May – Lewes Ferry was selected to be the venue for the first Bocce Fest extravaganza,” said Scott Green, Executive Director of the DRBA, the owner and operator of the Ferry.  “Bocce is a great recreational sport where participants gather and socialize.  It’s a perfect match for our spectacular waterfront setting.  For anyone looking for a unique, picturesque location to host an event, the Ferry terminal is just the ticket!”

"Bocce has been a longstanding tradition here at Dogfish," says Founder and President Sam Calagione. "I mean, how many other sports can you play with a beer in your hand? And we couldn't think of better partners than the folks at Major League Bocce and the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. We hope this is just the beginning of many good times to come."

Teams will be randomly assigned to one of four 12-team conferences prior to the start of games.  Round 1 games start at 11AM. All teams will play in this round.  Based on your team's score, teams will then be seeded in a 12-team bracket with other teams in your conference.

Each of four conference winners will receive a prize valued at $250 for reigning supreme over their 12-team conference. The four conference-winning teams will compete against each other in a Final-Four play-off.  The top team will receive a $500 cash prize!  Register a four person team at www.playboccefest.com.

About Major League Bocce

Founded in 2004, Major League Bocce initially began as the DC Bocce League by a close-knit group of friends all living in Washington, DC.  After a couple of seasons of playing other social sports, the founders of Major League Bocce looked for a way to provide an alternative experience that was more in tune with their lifestyle. Bocce was the obvious choice, as athletic coordination was hardly a prerequisite for play.  More importantly, bocce created a space for friendly, casual competition that was often meted out with drink in hand. The league is rapidly expanding and has divisions in Bethesda, Boston, Dallas, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Washington, DC.  Charity is an integral part of the programming of Major League Bocce competition. To date, Major League Bocce has donated $120,000 to over 100 charities on behalf of our championship teams.
