Thomas Dougherty Jr., construction worker

Thomas F. Dougherty Jr., 51, of Millsboro, formerly of Upper Darby, Pa., passed away suddenly Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at his home.

Tom was born in Upper Darby, Pa., Oct. 2, 1961, to Thomas F. and Helen C. (Shultz) Dougherty Sr. Tom was a graduate of Upper Darby High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1984-85.

He was previously employed with Cavin Construction Company in Wilmington before his disability. Tom was deeply devoted to his family, loved music, cars and Harley Davidsons. He will be remembered as a loving son, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his mother, Helen C. Dougherty of Millsboro; two sons, Shawn Dougherty and his fiancé Megan Thomas of Georgetown, and Shane Dougherty of Millsboro; and a granddaughter, Willow Dougherty.

A committal service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
