RAL appreciates Beaux Arts Ball support

October 11, 2013

With glitz and glamour all around, more than 400 attendees at the Rehoboth Art League’s Beaux Arts Ball Sept. 21 were seemingly on a magic carpet ride from the moment they arrived at Belle Mead Farm in Rehoboth.  The ball was deemed by all a huge success and all for a very worthy cause; the Rehoboth Art League Education and Outreach Programs.

Guests arriving at Beacon Middle School were in awe of the other costumed guests checking in and boarding the Jolly Trolley for the short ride to the ball.  More than 25 “Living Art” Models greeted attendees.  The professional models garbed as Evil Eve, Quit Horsin Around, Peacock, Jungle Catz, Mimiking Mimes, Galilttani Beautiful, Diamond Dawgs, Love of Ganesha, Jumping Jellyfish and more were probably the most photographed during the evening.

Cocktails and hors d´oeuvres were served as guests tried to guess who was dressed as who and enjoyed the gala decorations of sequined table cloths, grand vases of peacock feathers, delicate shimmering colored panels hanging from the ceiling and small blue votive lighting along the walls. During and after a sit down dinner guests enjoyed and danced to the music of the 10-piece band REMEDY.

In the tradition of past balls there was a grand march of those in costumes and the winners were called to the stage to receive an award. Francis Hueber won for Best Individual Costume. Mr. Hueber made his entire macramé costume named Kanji (the Japanese word for macramé). Charles and Harriet Leasure won the prize for the Best Couple Costume with their costumes as the Munchkin and the Wicked Witch of the West. The Best Group Costume Award was won by a group from Ocean Atlantic Sotheby dressed in Roman attire.

The art league wishes to thank: everyone who attended the ball; the ball underwriters, Mary Ann and Mark Ronald, and Clear Channel (MAGIC 98.9, Q105, FROGGY 99.9 and KISS 95.9); ball supporters Candy and Donnee Ramelli and Delmarva Public Radio ( WSCL 89.5 and WSDL 90.7); The Cape Gazette, ball patrons, supporters, donors, Beaux Arts Ball Committee and all those who made this event the best!

The art league has been receiving great reviews and if anyone would like to share photos or a quick quote about the ball, they can do so via facebook, the Art League Blog at rehobothartleague.wordpress.com or by emailing lynne@rehobothartleague.org.
