October 3, 2013

The Mariner Vikings field hockey team defeated Georgetown 3-1 Sept. 30 at home. Georgetown struck first, but that goal was all it took for Mariner to start its attack. Raegan Jackson responded with an unassisted goal. Her score was followed by Lakendra Harpe's with an assist by Lori Ferguson.

The final goal came on a corner with a hard push from the top of the circle by midfielder Amanda Sponaugle assisted by midfielder Kaeli O'Neill.

The second game found Mariner scoring a 2-0 victory. The scoring started with a goal by Leah Croy followed by a second goal by Anna Harrington with an assist by Dania Cannon.

"Another successful ending to a great game due to communication," said coach Cindy Brown. "We had great support from midfielders Maci Long and Alex Rowe."

The coaches were proud of the communication and improved positioning during the games.

In soccer action, the Vikings of Mariner fell to Georgetown 6-1.
