Landgraff to address NARFE luncheon in Rehoboth Oct. 10

Rita M. Landgraf, Delaware Secretary of Health and Social Services, will be in Rehoboth Beach Thursday Oct. 10, to speak at a luncheon meeting of the Sussex Chapter of NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees.)

The lunch will be held at noon at 1776 Restaurant, at Midway Plaza, 18585 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach. The secretary’s remarks will be at 1 p.m.

Landgraf will discuss aging and retirement topics, such as issues for the aging population in Delaware, what strategies the state is undertaking to deal with them, how Delaware will be implementing the Affordable Care Act, and others. She will answer chapter members' questions.

She has been secretary since 2009. The department is responsible for ensuring that Delawareans, including seniors, receive the health related services they need and for helping to coordinate the state’s response to health reform and responding to the growing aging population in Delaware.

For more than 30 years Landgraf has been a leader on health care and senior issues. She formerly served as executive director of ARC of Delaware and the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Delaware. She served as president of the AARP of Delaware. She was inducted into the University of Delaware alumni wall of fame in 2011.
