A 46-year-old Lewes woman died Oct. 2 after crashing a tractor-trailer near Georgetown.
Colette M. Childers was driving a 2005 International Pro Start truck pulling an empty trailer for Mountaire Farms at 2:20 p.m., said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
The truck was heading southbound on U.S. 113 near Kruger Road when Childers ran off the roadway for unknown reasons. She drove head-on into two trees before coming to a stop, Fournier said.
Childers was properly restrained; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Prior to the crash, Fournier said, 911 received calls about a truck driving erratically. At one point, he said, the truck crossed into the median strip before continuing southbound on U.S. 113.
U.S. 113 was closed for five hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
