Dover comes to Cape Friday, Oct. 11
October 5, 2013

The Bullis Bulldogs from Potomac, Md., with just 27 players in uniform and four starters out by injury dropped 35 first half points on Cape’s homecoming crowd then cruised to a 42-7 victory.

Cape dropped to 2-3 with the loss and hosts 4-1 Dover this Friday. The Senators have recent victories over Saint Mark’s and Sussex Tech.

“You play a team that good and you have to make the most of opportunities and not give them anything," coach Bill Collick said.

Maybe the low point in the beat down was a third quarter return of an interior shovel pass picked out of the air by lineman Jindu Chiazor, who returned it 7 yards for a touchdown.

In Cape’s three losses to Bullis, Caesar Rodney and Archbishop Spaulding, the Vikings were outscored in the first half 100-21.

Bulldogs quarterback Dwyane Haskins, a sophomore, threw for three first half touchdowns to three different receivers.

Cape’s lone score came on a second quarter 88-yard kickoff return by Maurice Mills. Mills had a 78-yard return against Archbishop Spaulding earlier in the season.

Cape played the game without injured starters Andrew Grau, Juan Saez , Andre Flowers and Jason Hernandez. Grau just had ACL surgery and is gone for the season. Saez and Flowers are expected to return for the Dover game.

Dover’s quarterback Nick Spadifino, who hung 55 on Cape in a 55-54 Dover win in 2011 was injured in last week's win at Sussex Tech and is questionable for the Cape game.

“The second half of the season we have five Northern Division games starting with Dover this Friday,” Collick said. “This is the toughest patch we’ve had since I’ve been here, but I think our kids will respond."

Buillis is coached by Pat Cilento, son of Cape athletic director Bob Cilento. His Bulldogs opened the season Aug. 30 with a 42-0 loss to St. John's of Washington, D.C. And St. John's is now 4-2 on the season.
