A three-car accident tied up afternoon traffic Oct. 4 on Route 24 near Millsboro.

At about 1:36 p.m., Louise E. McCabe, 84, of Millsboro, was traveling eastbound on John J. Williams Highway near Layton Davis Road when for unknown reasons she crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a 2001 Ford F150, operated by Randolph J. Cooper, 46, of Delmar, in the rear driver's side of the truck. McCabe's 2003 Chevrolet Malibu also struck the front right bumper of a 2009 Lincoln MKS, driven by Frederick L. Dadds, 64, of Millsboro, which was traveling behind the pick-up.

All drivers as well as a 56-year-old male passenger were transported to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes with non-life-threatening injuries.

McCabe was cited for inattentive driving and failure to remain in a single lane.

As the accident scene was being cleared, a tractor trailer struck wires while traveling on a detour route. The downed wires sparked a field fire, which was controlled.
