Sussex County Council donates to Epworth UMC Skate Project

October 15, 2013

“My fellow council members and I were proud to vote 'yes' on the decision to monetarily support the Epworth UMC Skate Project," said Sussex County Council member George Cole after a recent meeting.

"Skateboarding has always been a popular activity in our resort community and it has grown into a full-fledged sport. This professionally designed concrete park will be a welcome addition to our public recreational facilities in the county," added Cole.

Epworth UMC Skate Project has been working to raise $50,000 to build a skate park on the grounds of Epworth UM Church on Holland Glade Road in Rehoboth. “The park will be free and open to the public,” said skate project member Tricia Ratner.

The area currently has wooden ramps and structures. The project wants to serve the needs of the skateboarding community by providing durable concrete structures. More information about the project can be found at www.eumcrb.org/sk8 or call Ratner at 302-745-4131.
