Southern Delaware Choral Society to perform at jazz fest

October 8, 2013

The Southern Delaware Choral Society, a nonprofit organization now in its 28th year, will perform at the Villages of Five Points in Lewes as part of the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival. Events at the Villages at Five Points, which will headline the Fralinger and Woodland Mummers String Band, will be held from noon to 4 p.m.

The Chorus' Ensemble will be performing at the jazz festival. The group is made up of a smaller group of singers, selected by audition, from the larger chorus. This group has more flexibility and is able to perform programs that are custom tailored to meet the needs of a specific event. During the year they perform at schools, churches, art festivals etc.. to provide additional opportunities for audiences in Sussex County to enjoy quality choral music.

The SDCS Chorus is currently rehearsing for performances of Bach's Christmas Oratorio to be performed on Dec. 14, at Georgetown Middle School, and on Dec. 15, at Cape Henlopen High School. Both concerts will take place at 4 p.m.

The performances will feature a chamber ensemble comprised of members of the Newark Symphony Orchestra and several local musicians.
In the spring we will present two performances "Regal to Rustic" featuring Eastern European music.  The performances are scheduled for May 3-4, 2014 at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach.
