Member of child pornography network receives lengthy prison sentence

October 18, 2013

Attorney General Beau Biden has announced that David Pennington of Georgetown has pled guilty to two counts of dealing child pornography and was sentenced in Sussex County Superior Court to 28 years in prison.

Pennington, 70, is one of three men who were part of child pornography distribution ring in Sussex County and were first arrested in January after an investigation by the Child Predator Task Force. Pennington, who has three prior convictions for sex crimes against children, and the other two men were initially charged with possessing child pornography. Following further investigation by the task force, Pennington was charged in March with the two counts of distribution of child pornography, which is what he pled guilty to.

“This defendant will never be a threat to children again,” Biden said. “The Child Predator Task Force is working hard every day to take individuals who possess and distribute child pornography off the streets.”

The other two men who were arrested in January along with Pennington -Rogelio Cordero of New Castle and William D. Zimmerman of Georgetown -have since been charged with federal child pornography offenses. Those charges are pending.
