Dewey Beach gets $7,000 to cover movies, bonfires

October 22, 2013

Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce President Carol Everhart presented a check to Dewey Beach Mayor Diane Hanson, left, at an Oct. 12 town council meeting.  Everhart, right, said the $7,276 check is a full return for the town's investment toward weekly summer bonfires and movies on the beach.

Everhart said more than 11,000 visitors and residents attended movies on the beach in Dewey Beach this year, and more than 17,000 went to the town's beach bonfires.  She said the chamber and the town split the cost to hold the events.
