Samantha Hawkins wins state poster contest for school bus safety

October 23, 2013

Sussex Tech junior Samantha Hawkins of Georgetown is shown with her winning entry in the 2013 National School Bus Safety Poster Contest in Division 5, Computer Aided Design. Samantha’s poster will be sent to the national competition at the National Association for Pupil Transportation Conference in Grand Rapids, Mich. National winners will be announced in December.

This year’s poster theme was At My Stop - You Stop! The theme had to appear in the poster exactly as written and at least part of a yellow school bus had to be depicted on the poster. All artwork was required to have a positive approach, demonstrating only proper school bus safety behaviors. Drawings had to be original, correct in safety concept, and the exclusive work of the student.

Samantha is studying Digital Publishing and Print Design under the guidance of teacher Kelli Gehrke.

The National School Bus Safety Poster Contest is sponsored by the National Association for Pupil Transportation, the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services, and the National School Transportation Association.
