A 58-year-old Bridgeville woman died Nov. 1 after a car crash near Georgetown.
Jane E. Workman was driving a 2000 Hyundai Sonata at 12:23 p.m. eastbound on Route 18 near Coverdale Road when a 1997 GMC Sonoma pickup truck driven by Nathanial McCullen, 19, of Seaford heading westbound crossed into the eastbound lane, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of Delaware State Police.
Workman tried to avoid the truck by moving off on the eastbound shoulder, but her vehicle was struck head-on by the truck; the crash sent the car partially over a guardrail, Fournier said.
Workman, who was properly restrained, was extricated from the car and taken by EMS to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead, Fournier said.
McCullen was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he was admitted with nonlife-threatening injuries. It is unknown whether he was properly restrained, Fournier said. Charges could be forthcoming, Fournier said.
Route 18 between Shorts Lane and Coverdale Road was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
