Martha H. Brittingham, retired bank teller

Martha H. Brittingham, 75, of Lewes, passed away suddenly Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Milford Bayhealth Center- Milford. She was born Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Theodore and Lucille (Burdette) Hazzard.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brittingham was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Bambi Pepper in 1986.

Mrs. Brittingham retired in 1999 after 40 years as head teller of the Rehoboth Beach branch of Sussex Trust Bank which transitioned to Wilmington Trust Bank then M&T Bank at the time of her retirement. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes, where she had formerly coordinated the church nursery for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, David Richard Brittingham of Lewes; daughter Tammy B. Serman of Lewes; stepdaughters: Sandra London of Kitty Hawke, N.C. and Jacqueline Sterling of Milton; grandchildren: Tyler, Evan and Britt, stepgrandchildren: Jenni, Alison, Megan, Allan, Michelle and Jacques; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Patricia Bleu and Gerry Hazzard of Texas.

Memorial services will be held Monday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m., at Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. 4th Street, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to services.
