Rehoboth Beach celebrates Veterans Day

November 15, 2013

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7447 and the Ladies and Men’s Auxiliary Post 7447 hosted a Veterans Day ceremony on the Bandstand in Rehoboth Beach Nov. 11. Veterans, families, and local and state officials, along with many patriotic local citizens, attended the event.

Shown addressing the gathered crowd is keynote speaker John Murrow of Newark. Murrow is a Vietnam veteran, past VFW department commander, and present national council member for the state of Delaware.

Murrow said, “As veterans and concerned citizens, we must continue to be unrelenting in our efforts to petition our government to secure sufficient treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. To care for our military families, to increase funding for childcare, spousal support, career development, lodging and education. And also to respond the unique needs of the more than 1.2 million women veterans.”
