La Esperanza receives grant for children’s bilingual mental health services

November 19, 2013

La Esperanza has announced that it has recently received $5,000 from The Next Generation of Southern Delaware to support children’s bilingual mental health services. Specifically, Next Gen-South funding will be used to create a therapy/observation room to provide Parent-Child Interaction Therapy treatment services for Latino child victims of domestic violence and child sexual abuse.

La Esperanza recently relocated its Victims Services Program, and it is the only fully bilingual and bicultural comprehensive, trauma-focused program that provides wraparound services to Latino immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child sexual abuse.

Since 1996, La Esperanza has been providing programs and services in the areas of family development, immigration, victims services and education to meet the needs of Latino immigrants residing in Sussex County, serving approximately 10,000 adults, children, and families each year. Next Gen-South is a philanthropic organization of young professionals living and working in Kent and Sussex counties.
