Teen pleads not guilty to attempted murder

November 26, 2013

An 18-year-old Selbyville teen has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges.

Devon Gordon, who is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution, was not taken to Sussex County Superior Court Nov. 21, but rather he was arraigned by video.  He entered a not guilty plea and requested a jury trial for two counts of attempted murder and three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Police say Gordon met his 25-year-old female neighbor Oct. 1 in a Jeep parked outside his Selbyville home; then Gordon shot the woman in the head.

The neighbor was flown to Christiana Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition.

Gordon was committed to SCI in default of $310,000 cash bond.  He is scheduled for a case review at 9 a.m., Monday, Dec. 16.
