Miriah Hearn and Robert Baker plan May 2014 wedding

Captain and Mrs. Jack Hearn of Lewes are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter Miriah Jean Hearn to Robert Aaron Baker of Hartford County, Md. He is the son of Mr. Freddie Baker and Ms. Stephanie Fiorini of Parkville, Md. Miriah is the granddaughter of Jean Lynch Downes of Milton, the late John Michael “Mickey” Downes, formerly of Rehoboth Beach, and Jack and Joy Hearn of Milton.

The bride-to-be graduated from Sussex Technical High School and trained in dance at Sussex Dance Academy, Kirov Academy in Washington, D.C., the Rock School for Dance Education, and Orlando Ballet. She began her professional ballet career with Ballet Theatre of Maryland and is currently a principal ballerina with Tampa Ballet Theatre. Miriah is an instructor at Tampa Bay Ballet and The Marcia P. Hoffman Center at Ruth Eckerd Hall. She is pursuing a degree from St. Petersburg College.

The groom-elect graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, N.Y. He received a bachelor of science degree in marine transportation, a U.S. Coast Guard license as unlimited third mate, and an officer’s commission in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He is employed by Transocean, an offshore oil and gas exploration company.

A May 2014 wedding is planned at St. Edmond Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach.
