Annual Turkey Bowl brings lax back to Legends Field

December 3, 2013

The annual Turkey Bowl men's lacrosse pickup game brought back past and future lax stars to battle it out on the turf at Legends Stadium Nov. 30. No score was kept and no referees were needed as 32 players checked, shot and saved in the game that is bigger than a win or loss, it's the love they have for the past and the future of Cape Henlopen men's lacrosse.

"We get together once a year at Legends Stadium just to play the game we love and share it with the Cape guys that are the future of Vikings lacrosse," said Cape 2011 All-American goalie and game organizer James Cook. "It's a great day to be a Viking."

"It was a lot of fun," said Cape senior middie Will Clampitt. "I got to play on the team with Vikings legends like Joey [Cahill] and Spencer [Steele]. It's was also good to see everyone from my past four years on the team that have gone on to play after graduating."

Players as far back as the 1980s ran with the Cape High players who will represent the school when the spring season opens.
