John B. Wright, registered engineer

John B. Wright “Jack” of Frankford passed away Nov. 28, 2013, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.

Jack was born Nov. 10, 1933 in Chester, Pa., to John B. and Sarah H. Wright. After attending Chester High School, he went on to Drexel University where he obtained a degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed as a registered professional engineer by General Chemical in Claymont his entire career, although the company changed its name several times during his tenure.

Jack married Florence Alexander Nov. 17, 1956, and they resided in Brookhaven, Pa., until their move to Delaware in 2003.

They had two children, Donald A. Wright and Ruth Ann Dey. He is survived by his two children; four grandchildren, Jacqueline, Nicholas, Amanda and Kaitlyn; a great-grandchild, Austin; and a brother, Richard W. Wright.

During his life he was very active in his church, Eddystone United Methodist while living in Pennsylvania, and Millville United Methodist Church after moving to Delaware. He served in many responsible positions in both churches during his life. Jack will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 6, at Millville United Methodist Church on Club House Road in Millville, where friends and family may call after 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s name may be made to the Millville United Methodist Church Building Fund, 36405 Club House Road, Millville, DE 19967-6972.
