Record-breaking fundraiser fights heart disease in women

December 10, 2013

The annual Sussex County Go Red For Women Luncheon was held Sept. 18 at Baywood Greens Country Club in Long Neck. The annual event featured health screenings, an auction, fashion show and luncheon. The guest speaker this year was was Firas El-Sabbagh, MD, of Beebe Healthcare and Clinic By The Sea.

Luncheon Event Chair Pat Sandy and her team of volunteers hosted the most successful fundraiser to date with a donation of $10,700 to the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women Southern Delaware initiative. The donation was presented by Sandy and Jeffrey Fried (premier sponsor of the event) to Karen Gritton and Daniel Green of the American Heart Association for Southern Delaware.

The fight against heart attack and stroke in women through prevention education and research continues to gain ground, thanks to the hard work and generous donations of Delawareans.   Next year’s Sussex County Go Red For Women Luncheon is set for Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014.  For more information on how to volunteer or donate, call Christine Shelley at 302-286-5723.
