God's food brought this man luck

December 6, 2013

I came to Rehoboth Beach on Sept. 6 in my car, with my clothes and my cat Cocoa, and not much more.

Rehoboth, it says on a postcard, is a biblical name meaning “place for all” (rich and poor).

At Rehoboth Presbyterian Church of Midway, 19075 Coastal Highway, there is a place for all at the soup kitchen next door.

I went to the soup kitchen Monday and Thursday. Breakfast and lunch were great. The people were kind and generous.

They did not ask for credentials. They did not ask for money. They fed me, God bless them.

I went to a service in the church on Sunday. I sat there crying because I'd just lost my job at an art gallery in Rehoboth Beach. The pastor handed me a tissue. After the service, I told him I was Catholic. He invited me back. I should have told him how beautiful the organ music was. That was October.

It is now December. I have a new job in Rehoboth Beach at the outlets. I live at a farmhouse in Milton.

God's food brought me luck, maybe. It says on the truck in the parking lot: Jusst Sooup Ministry. If you love me then feed my sheep. John 21: 15 – 17 302 644-8113.
