Viola E. Rogers, devoted to family

Viola E. Rogers, 88, of Frankford passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. She was born Feb. 26, 1925, to the late Willie and Eva Fenton Tyre.

She was married to Floyd T. Rogers Sr. in 1943. “Vi”, as her husband lovingly often called her, shared 34 wonderful years of marriage till his passing in 1977, raising and guiding a family. She was a dedicated family woman, loving mother, hard working, and still had time to work outside the home. She worked at the Lord Baltimore School in the cafeteria, and retired from the Indian River School District. She was a founding member, and very active member of Blackwater Fellowship Church - but most of all was devoted to, and adored her family. She loved to read the papers, and keep up with what was going on.

In addition to her parents, and her husband Floyd, she was preceded by a son, Floyd T. Rogers Jr. in 1994; and her brothers: James Willey and William McCabe. She is survived by her children: Wilmer W. Rogers and wife Mary Elizabeth, of Dagsboro, William M. Rogers and his wife Linda, of Harborton, Va., and Peggy Campbell, and husband David Sr., of Frankford; and a daughter-in-law: Judy Rogers. She has eight grand children; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends across Sussex County.

A funeral service and Celebration of Her Life will be held Thursday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m.,, at Blackwater Fellowship Church,where friends may call for viewing and visitation from noon till 1 p.m. Barry Townsend will officiate, and interment follows at St. Georges UMC Cemetery in Clarksville.

Mrs. Rogers loved flowers, and floral tributes are welcomed!
