Memory Café Holiday Brunch set for Dec. 23

RSVP by Dec. 20
December 13, 2013

People with memory loss and their caregivers are invited to Memory Café’s Holiday Brunch, which will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 23, at The Kool Bean Bistro, 111 Atlantic Ave. in Ocean View across from the elementary school.

RSVP to Yolanda at 302-539-2671 by Friday, Dec. 20, in order to be included in the final reservation.

Memory Café for people with memory loss and their caregivers meets the fourth Monday of every month, from 10:30 a.m. until noon, usually at the Ocean View CHEER Coastal Leisure Center. This free community program is organized by CHEER, Delaware Hospice, and the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Living with memory loss can be challenging, especially for caregivers. In addition to the many physical and emotional challenges, the caregiver is often unable or unwilling to leave his or her loved one, resulting in social isolation.

Memory Café provides a safe environment for people with memory loss and their care partners to laugh, learn, and be socially engaged with others who are traveling the same journey. This program is not an adult day program, nor one that provides personal or medical care. The caregiver/family member is responsible for their loved one.

Memory Café is open to the public and free of charge. Guests at the Holiday Brunch will be responsible to pay for their own meal.

Registration is requested for planning purposes. Register or learn more by contacting Yolanda Gallego at ygallego@cheerde.com or 302-539-2671.
