Readers of 'The Beach House' invited to select top three stories

Voting brings chance at $250 cash prize
December 14, 2013

Readers of the newly released book, "The Beach House" will be able to vote for their top three favorite stories in it and in the process enter a contest to win $250 in cash. The 214-page paperback book, which contains short, entertaining stories that take place in and around Rehoboth Beach, also contains an entry form that readers can use to enter the contest.

A drawing will be held Sept. 1, 2014, to choose the winner. The authors of the top three most popular stories, as voted by the readers, will win Browseabout Books gift certificates of $100, $75, and $50. Contest details and entry information are inside each book. "The Beach House" is available at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach (books purchased online do not contain the entry form).

“This book started as a contest for writers,” says Nancy Sakaduski of Cat & Mouse Press, “so it’s only fair that it finishes with a contest for readers. It is like the People’s Choice Awards, but with a chance for the voter to win as well.” The book makes a great present for anyone who lives in or visits the Rehoboth area. Sakaduski says, “With the chance to win $250, giving 'The Beach House' book as a gift is like giving a book and a lottery ticket.”

The Beach House contains beach reads, stories that can be read in short bursts while relaxing on the beach, in a porch rocker, or next to a fishing pole. The theme of the beach house is carried through the different stories in a variety of ways and characters range from a jilted bride and a NASCAR driver with a secret to an elderly outlaw and a flapper-era ghost. Places mentioned in the book include Dolle’s, the Children’s Beach House in Lewes, the Rehoboth Beach Museum, Funland, Cape Henlopen, and many of the streets and neighborhoods in Rehoboth.
