A 55-year-old Milford woman was cited for improper lane change after she crashed into a police cruiser Dec. 17 on Route 1 near Milford.
Kathleen A. Jester was exiting the Route 30 ramp onto southbound Route 1 at 6:03 a.m. when she tried to cross both southbound lanes to the crossover at Lady Slipper Lane, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
As Jester crossed the southbound lanes, she failed to see a fully marked 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Delaware State Police cruiser that was travelling in the far left lane, Fournier said.
With her 2010 Chevrolet Aveo, Jester crashed into the passenger's side of the cruiser, causing it to spin onto the grass median, Fournier said.
Jester's car spun around in the southbound lanes where it came to a stop facing northbound. Jester was properly restrained; she was taken to Milford Memorial Hospital where she was treated for injuries not considered life threatening, Fournier said. She was cited for improper lane change.
The 35-year-old male trooper from Troop 7 in Lewes was properly restrained; he was not injured.
Route 1 southbound between South Rehoboth Boulevard and Johnson Road was closed for about three hours during the investigation.
